Vision

Together we make the difference

Clothing Point is an initiative of PolarisCare and is drawn by a group of friends of parents in response to poignant stories of poverty, both in the press and within our own professional and private world.

We collect clothing for children living in poverty all over Flanders via Clothing Points. We count on this Care partners and Volunteers .

Volunteers take care of the collection and redistribution.
Care partners can, from an acute need they see, ensure that the boxes made reach the right children.

Healthcare providers, but also schools, hospitals, ocmws or other organizations that are active in the “first line” can have a care partner to be. After all, from their position they keep their finger on the pulse and can detect very concrete problems on an ad hoc basis.

Care partners can request a box via the website. A few days later the package will be delivered on site. No questions asked, no paperwork, no hassle. Very concrete solutions for very concrete, individual problems.

Our motto

“Every child has the right to suitable clothing.”

  • Every child : because we make no exception.
  • Straight : because ART 27. from the Children’s rights convention says clearly: Children have the right to clothing!
  • Appropriate clothing : because delivered to measure, according to the season and the immediate needs of the child.

The Clothing Points consist of shops, businesses and individuals who act as hub between the donors and the central distribution point in Ghent. Parents who have clothing that has outgrown their shoot and do not want to throw it on the second-hand market can simply hand it in at a Clothing Point. The Clothing Point then takes care of the further processing.
Clothing points can be recognized by a sticker on the window.

Geography

Garment Point – Parents for Life is currently active all over Flanders and is gradually expanding to a national operation.

For whom

Clothing point – Parents for Life can be there for every child. For the time being we limit ourselves to the age of 12 years – 6th grade, but we also foresee expansion here in the future. We work very individually. Existing organizations can also contact us for specific questions. Each question is then treated individually. In principle, we have no contact with parents or children.

What do we want to achieve?

  • We want to help a child who does not have enough clothing to dress.
  • We want to be a point of contact for others who want to help.
  • In most cases, poverty also results in social exclusion and we hope in this way to contribute to the self-confidence of children.
